Show Automobiles Clash On State Highway An automobile accident, in which occupants of both cars narrowly escaped es-caped serious injury, proved one of the Sunday excitements. The clash occurred about 3:30, at a point just north of the high school building and ir. the collision Misses Ella Nielson and Hazel Jensen, in one car, were cut and bruised, while LeRoy Lund, driving driv-ing the other ill-fated car, escaped with a severe shaking. Versions as to how the accident happened are many and no blame, as yet, has been attached to either of the drivers, as far as can be learned. Mr. Lund was beaded north and hi:; at'.ention was directed to the west hills where floods were pouring from the hills and to the valley. His attention at-tention being withdrawn from his driving, his car swerved to the opposite oppo-site side of the road, and when he saw his position and the on-coming car, he "switched back to the other side of the highway and had bi'ought his car almost to a standstill. The Ford driven by Miss Nielson, and owned by Albert Hansen, was coming at a good clip, the report goes, and before the driver got the. macmne undej control the two machines clashed head-on, with the result that both were badly demolished. The injured girls were taken to their respective homes and it was first thought that Miss Nielson had suffered serious injuries. An examination, exam-ination, however, proved otherwise, and at last reports both Misses Nielson, Niel-son, and Jensen were fast recovering from the shock. |
