Show Boy Scout Troops Showing Activity With the coming of summer and at which time Boy Scouts of America are more active than ever, there is a decided interest being shown by the various troops in the valley, and plans for activities for the vacation months are being mapped out. At a recent meeting of the troop I committee for Gunnison troop No. 1, : an application for a new charter was j filed with the B. S. A. Sixteen lusty j i scouts were registered, as follows: j Kenneth Peterson, Paul Duggihs, Uh-j Uh-j lan Swalberg, Leo Sorenson and C. I Kermit Sorenson, were enrolled as I second class. In the tenderfeet class j were John Sorenson, Moyle Rasmus- sen, Reed Taylor, Lawrence Edwards, j Courtney Childs, Raymond Childs, j Forest Pritchett, Oris Sorenson, Arn- old Foote and Leon Michaelson. Bert j Gribble was appointed scout master, and L. H. Johnson, assistant. Troop 1, Gunnison, had their first over- trip was highly enjoyed and the scouts report a fine time. Members j of this troop committee were C. D. Michaelson and Alma Fredrickson, assisting in the transportation. 1 The trip was made under the supervision of the S. M. and assistant S. M. At the M. I. A. conjoint meeting held at Centerfield recently, troop 2, Centeifield, consisting of eight boys, was invested into the B. S. of A., with W. A. Fjeldsted, chairman, Daniel Dan-iel Beck, John Peterson, Jr., Ernel Christensen and Lawrence Jensen as officers. Two decidedly interesting scout ceremonies were carried out before an appreciative audie'nee. Not alone are the scouts of Gunnison Gun-nison and Centerfield becoming active, ac-tive, but the Mayfiekl scouts are moving forward. There are twelve j boys in the Mayf ield troop and they I are now awaiting the investiture j ceremony, which will join them with jthe B. S. of A. This ceremony is set 'for July 3. The Mayfiekl troop, all wide-awake, is right on the job at j all times.
