Show Allotted Big Sum For Forest Roads The forest service will spend $70,-000.00 $70,-000.00 this year for the construction of roads and trails in the National forests of Utah, for the purpose of imaking thei forest resup(rcs Jnore accessible and many areas more easily easi-ly administered. The program includ lis approximately 35 miles of road and over 175 miles of trail. This construction is entirely independent pt roads built in cooperation with the bureau of public roads, the state and rther agencies. They are the forest (service's own roads, built for the purpose of developing its properties. These roads are, for' the most part average mountain roads planned pri-j pri-j marily for such purpose as hauling I logs and lumbering, facilitating the I sending of supplies to sheep camps, 'etc. Their purpose is not to serve for through traffic or automobile i ourists. The trails enable the rangers to cover their districts more effectively and serve to cut down the 'time taken ta-ken to respond to forest fires, j The chief road being built under i this program is the Provo River road, j which will open up large bodies of i spruce and pine timber in the headwaters head-waters of the Provo river. |
