Show UNIVERSITY IS HONORED ! The medical school of the University Univer-sity of Utah has just been accorded a very signal honor, being given a membership in the American Association Asso-ciation of Medical Colleges. Dr. Ralph O. Porter, dean of the medical , :chool lias just received a letter notifying no-tifying him of the action taken by the executive .council at Boston last week. The letter also contained a audation of the high standards observed ob-served by the University of Utah ' nedical school. The membership came as the result re-sult of a rigid examination of the medical school last November by Dr. Fred C. Zappfe of Chicago, secre- j i tary of the association. After con- ! .suiting with every professor and instructor in-structor in the school and inquiring ;into the budget method of keeping records and the administrative policy Dr. Zappfe sent in his report together togeth-er with the application of the University Uni-versity to the executive council, which rendered the favorable decision deci-sion last week. The American Association of Medical Med-ical Colleges is an organization composed com-posed of the leading medical schools of the United States and Canada. Its purpose is to advance the cause of medical education and to foster discussions of problems affecting it. According to dean Porter, the University Uni-versity of Utah has cause for congrat ' ulations inasmuch as thete aire a great many colleges holding an "A" rating which are not members of this association. That the Universitiy medico' hool is comparable with other medical I schools of the country can be seen 'in a letter sent to Dean Porter by Dr. William Pepper, dean of the medical school of the University of Pennsylvania. Pennsyl-vania. Dr. Pepper says: "Your ; school has certainly made a very en-viabe en-viabe record, both groups of Utah (graduates having made an average ' well over 85, the Utah average being better than the general average of the advanced men and of our own students. I congratujate you and your school on this showing:" |
