Show Marooned at Night; Vandals Rob Auto Marooned away from civilization with,1 a broken car and fighting cool breezes at midnight, was the fate of Leonard Sorenson and J. W. Duffin last Monday when they met with an accident several miles north of San-taquin. San-taquin. Being isolated and out in the cold was not so bad as the joke some vandal played when the "lizzie" was abandoned for the night. Three of the tires, all the gasoline and the globes were appropriated during the early hours of Tuesday morning and when Sorenson and Duffin were fast asleep. The men were returning from Salt Lake and when some two miles north of Santaquin a wheel came off and the car shot over a four-foot enbank-ment. enbank-ment. Fortunately, Sorenson had control of his machine and brought it to a standstill just before a possible pos-sible crash into a barbwire fence. In the darkness the men were unable to do anything towards repair and the twin decided .to seek shelter at Santaquin. San-taquin. And it was during their absence ab-sence that some thief made use of the opportunity and made a "haul" by ap propriating most everything but the chasis. Before the Gunnison men could con tinue their journey home it was necessary nec-essary to visit a garage and secure repairs. They declare that the hospitality hos-pitality of some of the road thieves of Utah County is not up to standard they would appreciate very much to learn who the culprits were. |
