Show AH IMMENSE VINEYARD. Job a Barker's Flnce Knr TV i Hard Pia-lalna Pia-lalna 3,000 Vlnca, Which Yield ' Tons of Grape. Monday a Bugler scribe visited John Barker's great vineyard, situated sit-uated six miles south of Brigham. There are twelve acres of gravellv land planted with 3,000 of the most cleverly and neatly "kept vines to be found in the wide west. By traversing .the long avenues between the . numerous rows of dense Vines, which are scarcely able to bear their burdens of delicious fruit, you find you have traveled over six miles. This distan.ee gives one a faint idea of the extent of the vast vineyard. The grape crop is very heavy this year; the many different kinds of luscious fruit are unusually large, sweet and juicy. The vines are literally loaded down with beautiful clusters of pink, blue and white grapes. For the past few weeks Mr. Barker has gathered froun one to two tons of fruit from the vines each week, and yet Nature Na-ture seems to over-estimate their i strength by still imposing such loads upon them, that the absenceof afew tons is not noticeable. During the grape season. Mr. Barker could keep a good-size "1 city well supplied suppli-ed with the finest grapes to be found in the country. Our scribe was treated right royally by Mr. Barker, for which we retufn thanks. |
