Show Gunnison Student Achieves Honors Of interest to Gunnison residents is the fact that Waldo Villard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Villard of this city, was one of the main-stays on the celebrated cele-brated Wasatch academy foot-ball team of Mt. Pleasant. Young Villard played left end on the squad, and will be eligible for the team next year which promises to be even stronger than this year's eleven. The Wasatch team was known all over the state as the strongest team in the Sanpete-Sevier division, and one of the best in the state, as she was one of the participants in the semi-final game for the state championship. cham-pionship. It was on this team that young Villard held such an important position. In practically all the contests con-tests on the gridiron, Villard played a stellar game, and much of the scoring scor-ing during the games was due, in part, to his playing. Waldo is well liked by his school mates, and is the vice-president of his Sophomore class. During the time spent playing and practicing on the grid-iron, he kept well ahead in his studies, regardless of the time re-t re-t - quired for the sport. Young Villard bids fair to become a star player on the 1924-25 basket-ball team, which has just been organized for the year. |
