Show ! Thanksgiving Letter ! 'X ' $ To Those Who Are Called to Sell Christmas Seals: 1 3, This letter is unlike any letter you are used to receiving. J It contains no requests, no suggestions, no news. It does not ask anything or advise anything. It is neither a buying nor J I J selling letter. It's just a Thanksgiving letter. i J Most people are thankful at Thanksgiving for what they have. Why not be thankful for what we are giving? l , The pioneer Pilgrims were thankful for what God had ! given them. Why not be thankful for what we can give to God? "Even as ye have done it unto the least of these my X children, ye have done it unto me." X Shall we not be thankful that we have been given the X opportunity of giving our services to help, in the saving of human lives from tuberculosis? The funds raised from the sale of Christmas seals during the past 1 6 years has meant the X saving of a million lives from this disease alone, the avoidance X of many millions of days of sickness, the economy of a score 4. of billion dollars in the nation. Many children are alive today because the mother from the time of the Angel's first whisper was given instruction and care; because thought and service were given for the child through the perilous pre-school per- X iod, and because permanent health habits were taught in the schools. X Of such is the service of the Christmas seal. Into every corner of every state thruout the past fifteen years the missionaries of public health have carried a two-fold X message, to the afflicted that tuberculosis and many other X 4 scourges of mankind can be cured; to the well that they can be . prevented. They have preached by precept and practice the 4 simple gospel as simple as the Golden Rule of the Nazarene X 1 and easier of observance of wholesome food, sunshine, fresh X air, sleep, rest, poise of mind, cleanliness of soul as of body, . and complete normality in everything. Of such is the service of the sellers of the seals. X In short your service means health and happiness to humanity. X Is not this the finest cause for Thanksgiving that anyone can have? 4. Sincerely, . JOHN A. WIDTSOE, " State Chairman, Christmas Seal Sale. t |
