Show THE S. P. SPUR. Forty-Four Miles Saved by Making Brigham Brig-ham a Transfer Station. There is a laudable move on foot to induce the Southern Pacific Ry. to build over to Brigham. There are many reasons, advantageous to both that corporation and our city, why this spur should be built. Thousands of pounds of eastern freight would come over that road each year, preventing delaying transfers at Ogden; many carloads of coal would be brought into the heart of the city annually, in place of leaving at the Three Mile Creek switch, necessitating a long, heavy haul by team; by having direct western communication, a large Nevada fruit trade could be worked un; etc., etc., and last, but not least, all the heavy S. P. fruit shipments for Idaho and Montana, which now go via Ogden, could be carried across here to Brigham and on to the north, saving a long, unnecessary haul of i forty-four miles down to Ogden and back. These are matters of importance impor-tance to us all, and we should labor for the accompl isl i ment of the scheme. |
