Show Christmas Mail Heavy In Gunnison The holiday business for 1923 at the Gunnison postoffice surpassed any business of previous years and a new top record was established. Through the cooperation of the citizens citi-zens in mailing Christmas packages and parcels the usual congestion was overcome and not in one instance was it necessary to hold any of the packages pack-ages over for a day. The peak oL business was reached Friday and Saturday before Christmas, at winch time some thirty bags of outgoing mail was handled and about 20 bag ; for the incoming. Generally speaking speak-ing the rules of mailing, wrapping and addressing were followed sfcricily according to government instructions and all incoming packages were in good shape. "The mailing early" proposition was tried out all over the United States and from reports received thus far it proved a great boon not only to the sender and receiver but aided the army of clerks and potsoffice officials offi-cials in handling the vast mails that are sent during the holiday season "The scheme proved a big help at the local postoffice," said PostroasW Leo Gledhill, "and I want to think everybody for the cooperation extevd-ed. extevd-ed. Naturally there is . a b'g rush both in receiving and sending at the holiday season, but we found i'l" difficulty in handling the business." Postmaster Gledhill has been highly high-ly comended for the way he hamHed the distribution of packages.
