Show ican communities are to receive substantial relief in the way of tax reduction on their property, there will have to be a revival of economy econ-omy in the local community, where the greater portion of the average aver-age man's taxes are collected and assessed. The income tax assessed by the federal government will soon no longer be a burden to the ordinary citizen. He must therefore pay attention to what is going on in his own city and county. Of course the war brought a slowing down in construction and public building, and it is necessary to catch up. The greater amount of the money collected in local taxes is spent for roads and schools which are vitally necessary for the welfare of the nation. But it is up to the taxpayers in the various communities to see that only the necessary improvements are made, and that extravagance extrava-gance and waste are eliminated so far as possible. When the people get to thinking about economy at home as they have thought about federal economy there will be local tax relief. HOW ABOUT LOCAL ECONOMY?
