Show Gunnison Ready With Big Holiday Program The stage is set, the invitations for the whole world to be present at the Independence Day celebration is out. The committees have "pepped" up and there is every assurance that the day in Gunnison Gun-nison will go down in history as one of the biggest and best celebrations celebra-tions held here for a long time. Tonight the gates will be thrown wide open and the city will bid welcome to all for tomorrow's festivities. festivi-ties. Anticipating a big attendance every arrangement has been made to care for visitors. There will be plenty to eat, plenty to quench your thirst and plenty of amusements to keep you busy throughout the day and when night comes and the final number has been concluded, you will go home happy in the thought you spent the Fourth at Gunnison. Fllowing the sunrise salute the parade will come next on the day's program. All automobiles will assemble at the bank corner and be ready at 9 o'clock. The parade will proceed to the high school building where the patriotic program will be given as follows: Singing "Columbia, the Gem of the Ocean," ' Congregation Invocation, Arthur Larson Vocal Solo, Mrs. R. C. Norman Address of Welcome Mayor Christensen Reading "Declaration of Independence," Kearns Ferre Selection, Quartet Oration of the Day LaDrue Jensen Musical Reading, Hazel Anderson Piano Duet, Eloise Myrup, Gladys Christensen Salute to the Flag, Boy Scouts Singing "America," Congregation Benediction - Chaplain The opening festivities for the afternoon program will be dancing danc-ing for the children, followed by a spectacular baseball game. The contestants will be Business Men from the Eastside Igainst the Business Busi-ness Men from the Westside. "McGraw" Sorenson will have charge of the contenders from the eastside, while "Huggins" Duggins will try to pilot the westsiders to victory. The game will be five innings only, but it will be a "humdinger." After the ball game the following program of races willl be pulled off on Main street: Fat en's Race first prize, two dollars; second prize, one dollar; dol-lar; third prize, fifty cents. i Lean Men's Race first prize, two dollars; second prize, one dollar; third prize, fifty cents.
