Show Joe Wood, Canadian, Is Promising Young Jockey Joe Wood, contract jockey for the International stable and winnr of the solid gold spurs as tlie cliompion at the Tia Juana winter meeting, is regarded by horsemen as one of the most promising prom-ising race riders developed in recent years. He is a Canadian boy, seventeen seven-teen years old, and has been riding less than a year. His record at Tia Juana of 5G winners, 44 seconds and 38 thirds has given him official rating among American jockeys as second to Ivan Parke. He will appear on tlie eastern circuits this summer. George Walker, trainer of tlie International Inter-national stable and for seven years leading money winner among trainers in Europe, has taken a keen interest in Wood and aided in developing him. Walker believes the youth eventually will take his place among tlie great riders of the American turf. |
