Show Citizens Approve District No. 2 Gunnison, which has been stepping step-ping out briskly in the way Of improvement im-provement will continue in this branch and it can be safely said that within the next three years the city will shew a better and more' substantial sub-stantial growth than any city in the county, or perhaps the southern section. sec-tion. This was demonstrated last Monday night when the protests were heard at a special meeting of the city council. In the territory embracing embrac-ing tho second sidewalk paving district dis-trict there was only a single protest, and this protest did not show really and truly opposition. The new district which has been created by the voice of the citizens will embrace some fifteen blocks of Walk. Center street west of Main street will have three blocks west and two blocks east; First South, tour blocks west and one block east, the latter being an extension of the walk already laid. The district will also include an extension of the walk at Marius Jensen's south to the new high school site. With tho approval of the taxpayers for the new district, the usual form of creating the district by ordinance and the advertising for bids for the work will be carried out at once and it is proposed to lose no time in getting get-ting the work done. The completion of district number one, by tho Green Engineering company, com-pany, was accomplished last Saturday Satur-day night and tho final measurements mado. In this district there are 8123 lineal feet of walk paving and all but 204 feet of this is four feet wide. The 204 feet, embracing the crossings, cross-ings, Is eleven feet wide. With the walk already laid and , with tho completion of the new district, dis-trict, an the possibilities of a sewer system in Gunnison, the future for the. "busy" little burg certainly is appealing. |
