Show PARENTS, BE CAUTIOUS. A I'owerful Kdiwiiii Why We Need More Kiibor-I.'ui-nlslihiB ImluHlricH. Last Sunday night, in one ward of this city, live young men were excommunicated from the Mormon Mor-mon church fur un-t'hvistian-ltke conduct. Wv. believe no one who understood their cases will contend that this severance was an act of injustice. There were all bright, jn-omising young men, however, but thev turned aside and received , their just rewards.. There may yet he scores left iu this jdaee as bad, if not worse, than they, but their day has not yet arrived. But to the point which we wish to make. What caused the waywardness of these young men? Was the spirit of wrong-doing born in them, or sown later on and nurtured by evil companions and associations? We honestly believe the latter to be the case. Where were they thrown into the association of un-Chris-tian-like companions? Not at home; not herein our once quiet, moral, peaceful City of Homes. It was abroad where they met and were seduced, or partly so, by the Tempter. It was abroad they lell, if "fall" you call it. They found neither suitable nor ample employment em-ployment at home and so were forced to seek work in mining camps, or on the railroads, beyond the watchful watch-ful eye of fond parents, where King Crime and Queen Vice take supreme delight in capturing and seducing each fresh, young victim. Parents, in the name of Heaven, keep your sons and daughters employed em-ployed at home if you wish them to grow up pure, undcfilcd and uncoil un-coil t:i initiated by cosmopolitan vices and worldly wickedness. |
