Show BRIGHAM AMD "BOX ELDER." Another Forcible Example oT the Inconsistency Incon-sistency of our Postoflice Name. Another striking example of the incompatibility of Brigham station . and "Box Klder poMolliee" came to light this week. It was in the case of Mr. McKagg, the cannery' man. 1 le boarded the train at 1 Chicago, last week, to find Brig- j ham City. "When he reached Colo- rado he began a tedious and discouraging dis-couraging inquiry for the whereabouts where-abouts of Brighain Cily. Inquiries at postollices were unavailing. None of the postal clerks knew where Brigham City, Box Elder county, was, but there was a place called "box Elder." But that wasn't the place the gentleman was bound for. II is destinal ion was Brigham. Station agents pointed out Brigham and postal clerks showed him "Box Elder." This greatly confused and perplexed the gentleman, who said the situation grew even darker and less encouraging encour-aging the nearer he approached this city. Fortunately he ran upon it at last and was immensely relieved at the unexpected find. Each railway rail-way man would declare there was a Brigham and no Box Elder, while the postal clerks holly contended : vice versa. Much valuable time j was lost through these palpable in-! in-! congruities. An impromptu indignal ion meeting meet-ing was held in Boothe A-Peirce's A-Peirce's store, Wednesday morning, where a number of business v.ieu accidentally collected, and if was there moved and seconded that a petition be gotten up to have the name of our postoflice changed back to Brigham to correspond wilh the name of the city and the railroad station. The petition will i receive ,he signatures of between 2,000 and 3,01 H) people of this ' place, as the feeling is almost uui-j uui-j versal here that the time for the ! change is ripe. |
