Metcalf and Niel Sorenson. Delicious refreshments re-freshments were served at 10 o'clock. Mrs. Wm. Dack entertained Sunday Sun-day afternoon In honor of the annl-' versary of Her son Sheldon. Eleven little guests were pr- sent and a de- , lightful time was had in games and romping. Lunch was served at 5 o'clock. Master Sheldon Dack received re-ceived many presenKs as remem-'brance remem-'brance of the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. June Metcalf were host and hostess to some twenty friend3 at a Progressive Five Hundred Hun-dred party last Friday evening. In the contest for honors, Mr. J. E. Metcalf won the ladies' prize, while that offered for the best gentleman player was awarded to Dr. J. A. Ha-gan. Ha-gan. At 10 o'clock Mrs. Metcalf served light refreshments. The Social Circle club was entertained at the home of Mrs. 0. H. Halverson Wednesday afternoon of this week. The usual needlework was the pastime and during this period Mrs. J. M. Knighton gave a reading, "A Modern Romance. " Refreshmets were served at five o'clock. o Mrs. J. E. Metcalf was hostess to twelve of her friends at a valentine valen-tine dinner and card party at her home last Sunday evening. Dinner was served at 6 o'clock, covers being laid for twelve, and following Progressive Pro-gressive Five Hundred was played. Mrs. Ray B. Metcalf won the ladies' prize and A. M. Christenseri" captured the gentlemen's honor. The color scheme of red and white was cleverly carried out in the house and tabl6 decorations. Mrs. Anthony Metcalf gave an anniversary an-niversary dinner party at her home lat Friday afternoon, some twenty-five twenty-five guests being present. At 2 o'clock an elaborate dinner was served and during the afternoon a social time was enjoyed by those present. Mrs. Madsen was the recipient re-cipient of many beautiful presents. Mrs. H. W. Cherry delightfully entertained en-tertained at a valentine dinner party Monday evening of this week, covers being laid for fourteen. The valentine valen-tine scheme of decorations was carried car-ried out in detail, red and white hearts being used profusely throughout the home. A center- piece of red and white carnations, red -and white hearts for place cards, and red and white candy hearts were used on the dinner table. Through-' out the reception room large and small red and white hearts were used in profusion, creating a pretty effect. Following dinner Progressive Five Hundred was played for a time and 3rst honor went to Mrs. J. A. Plagan while a "booby"-went to Mrs. A. M. Christenscn. Niel Sorenson captured gentlemen's first prize and W. J. Gribble the consolation. Mrs. Ellen Hofheins was hostess at an anniversary party at her home last Saturday afternoon, some forty guests being present. Six tables oi Progressive Five Hundred were played and in the contest first honor went to Mrs. Lloyd Anderson, while :he RPtP.nnd was won hv Mrs. H. W. Cherry. The Hofheins home was beautifully decorated with carnations. carna-tions. At 5:30 a delicious hot lunch was served. Mrs. Hofheins was remembered re-membered by many of her friends with beautiful gifts. Sidney Baxter and Miss Irene Beck, two of Gunnison's popular young people, peo-ple, surprised their many friends Wednesday with the announcement that they were to be married. The ceremony was preformed by Reuben Christensen, justice of the peace of Gunnison and only immediate relatives rela-tives of the contracting parties were present at the ceremony. Mr. Baxter, who is an ex-service man, is a valued val-ued employee of the C. W. & M. Co., and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Baxter. The bride is the eldest daugghfer of Mrs. S. M. Duggins and S is very popular among the younger j society set. Mr. and Mrs. Bax.er have hosts of friends here who will join in wishing them all happiness. They wfTl make their home in Gunnison.
