Show Fishing Licenses Now Obtainable Fishing and hunting licenses for the year 1922 have been received in Gunnison and arc now on sale by Charles Rasmussen, who is acting as agent in this city for the state fish and game commission. The license this year is the same as last season, sea-son, $2 for male adults and $1 for ladies and children under 16 years of age. The policy of the fish and game commission this year will be to make good, clean sports and to avoid any coniflct or to avert any excuses that licenses were not obtainable, a goodly good-ly supply of licenses have been sent to the local agent as well as the other BOO agents throughout the state. There are a number of features embodied in the state laws 'that sportsmen here were not familiar with and for the guidance of those not familiar with the laws, the following fol-lowing is quoted from Mr. Madsen, state game warden, in a recent issue of the Salt Lake Tribune: "It follows that anyone who is found. fishing or hunting without a license w-ill have no excuse that will -be good, at least in the eyes of this department. The game wardens will ask the court to make examples ot each person found guilty of hunting orr fishing without a license, and believes be-lieves that in this the courts will have the backing of every true lover of outdoor sports. "The revenue from license fees is needed for the raising of fish and game, a function to which this department de-partment is now giving attention as nearly concentrated as possible. "Sportsmen are aware, of course, that fishing for catfish is already in. progress in Utah lake. They will not need to be reminded that fishing for any kind of fish, cat or chubs, or mullet mul-let or carp, as well as trout or bass, requires the state license in Utah. And so does hunting for any kind of game, including rabbits. "Last year there were issued, between be-tween 40,000 and 50,000 licenses. The revenue was more than $80,000. This year it should run up close to $100,000. I say this for two reasons. In the first place, sportsmen know that there are still many fishermen and hunters in the state who take out no license." |
