Show Initial Hike By Bee Hive Girls Bugs, toads, ants and m osquii held no fear in the hearts of the eh-v-' en Beehive girls at the Gunnison in-erveir in-erveir last Tuesday nit-lit and W.-.i nesday. Neither was the swarm of bees fearful of an attack by bears or night prowlers. On the oilier hand, the "hikers" enjoyed a splendid outing, out-ing, and as the first of its kind will go down as a sweet memory. Tuesday morning, with packs of blankets, utensils and provisions ft rapped on their shoulders, clad in conventional and comfortable dress, elevou members of the Beehive of Gunnison "hiked" to the railroad sia-lion. sia-lion. a distance of three miles. From there the trip was made by train to Sterling. From the latter place another an-other "hike" was made to the reser-coir, reser-coir, where camp was established. The usual rolicking time was had. notwithstanding some of the "bees" were foot-soro and tired. The beauties beau-ties of the park at the reservoir were highly enjoyed and Wednesday morning morn-ing several of the Bees braved the cold waters of the lake and enjoyed a. swim. Tuesday afternoon the girls pro-lared pro-lared for the return journey, walking to Sterling for the train. After reaching reach-ing Gunnison, 'though an effort, the .swarm of Bees walked to their re- ( ispeclive homes, happy, fired and joyous joy-ous over the success of the initial "hike." Miss Ruth Perkins acted !as beekeeper for the swarm. |
