Show Ephraim Bested. The second half of the schedule for the Southern Utah Baseball league was opened at Gunnison last Sunday afternoon when the locals had Eph-Iraim Eph-Iraim as their visitors. The game 'started out with a classy demonstration demonstra-tion by the Ephraimites, and for three innings the score stood 1 to nothing in favor of the visitors. There was a recovery and the Sugar Kings 'hit a batting streak and walloped the ball at random and into the fields for ihome runs, etc. Settle, on the mound for Ephraim, was pounded unmercifully unmerci-fully and was taken out of the box. The substitute pitcher had little effect bn the batting qualities of the Kings, md at the end of the game Gunnison had strapped another victory to her belt, with a score of 11 to 4. Hugh Halverson ,the kid giant, established the record of the season for a long drive. Catching the ball near the end Of his bat, Halverson swung with mighty force, and when the fielder went after it he found the pill reposing re-posing snugly in the grass near where 'the bridge crosses the canal. Harold Halverson also landed a home-run and numerous two and three-base hits were made by the Gunnison boys. |
