Show An Official Count Reduces Majority Since the returns from the school bond election, held on Monday of last week, a discrepancy, not from an official offi-cial standpoint, but from the fact that Incorrect returns were circulated, it has been found that the majority fa-A fa-A voring the bonds has been reduced to eleven votes, the official count now showing that instead of the majority being 5 it has been cut to 74. At a special meeting of the members mem-bers of the South Sanpete school board held at Manti last Friday, an official count of the ballots cast was made, and they were found correct as submitted by the several judges who acted during the election. Gunnison 199 4 Conterfield Ill 4 Axtell 10 11 Mayfield 35 14 Fayette 2 35 Manti 134 134 Ephraim 7 220 Sterling 9 14 Totals 507 433 Majority for bonds, 74. The above table shows that Ephraim, Eph-raim, opposing the bonds strongly, cast 220 against instead of 213, as was first reported. Manti, in the official of-ficial count, makes her record worse by only giving a 50-50 vote. In the first report'the vote at the county seat gave four majority for the bonds. In the official count the returns show 134 for and 134 against. The returns from the other voting precincts throughout the county were unchanged un-changed and the plans for carrying but the program for bigger and better .'schools for the county will be hurried along. Owing to the lateness of the season sea-son no effort will be started toward (erecting a building for the high school at Gunnison. However, Mr. Knighton of the school board stated that the work of assembling material and arranging for contracts would be taken up shortly. |
