Show MUCH CATTLE FEED WASTED Grain Straw, Corn Stover and Cottonseed Cotton-seed Meal Not Being Used to Best Advantage. Something like one-third of the total production of grain straw In the United Slntes Is not being used to advantage, ad-vantage, and of this amount onhalf Is an absolute loss. Of the 2-l.r,,0K),(X)0 tons of corn stover produced annually In the United Slales It Is estimated that only 81.fi per cent Is fed Io stock, and that at least .".5 per cent of this amount Is lost through wasteful methods meth-ods of feeding. Similarly, during the past years large quantities of cottonseed cotton-seed meal have been used for direct fertilizing purposes, which could be used to better advantage for feeding cattle, since not over 25 per cent of Its fertilizing value Is lost when It Is so used. |
