Show Gunnison Scouts Explore Mountains Some fourteen Boy Scouts of Gun-unison, Gun-unison, comprising practically the en- tire membership of the local order, 'are disporting themselves in the wilds i of Twelve Mile canyon this week and are having the "time of their lives," it is believed. Monday morning at 1 o'clock the fourteen Scouts, with Roy Madsen as scoutmaster, left for the "hike" to th,e hills, planning for a veek's stay. Inasmuch as the trip was a long one and with a view to lightening the burdens of the "kids," provisions, bedding and the camp paraphernalia were sent ahead by wagons. The itinerary of the trip included the exploration of Twelve Mile canyon, can-yon, the scaling of the highest peaks on the east range, a visit to the numerous nu-merous lakes that dot the tops of the high range and a general good time. Tuesday night it is believed the Scouts were at the top of the famous old moutain, Musinia, as frequent flashes of lights were plainly visible from Gunnison. Occasionally the fire 'would leap skyward, giving every indication in-dication that the Scouts were endeavoring endeav-oring to "flash" news to the parents and all in the city, that they were al-. right and having a good time. This is the second trip for the Gunnison Gun-nison Scouts, the first having been made to Funk's lake more thtan a month ago. The scouting trips are becoming a favorite with the Scouts, and while it is not likely that any more will be made this year, next season sea-son will see the boys on more frequent fre-quent and longer trips. |
