Show MINING NOTES. . Messrs. Cox and Noble this week located what they claim to be a promising claim, the Surprise, in Maple Canyon, near Deweyville. The find is about half way up the mountain side. Brigham Boden informs us that his mine in Gibbs' Canyon, north of Brigham, the Curly Boose, is making a fine showing. Ho now has several tons of ore on the dump that assays 78 per cent lead, seven ounces silver and several dollars gold. News from H. C. Baker, owner of the Garfield mine north of town, wh'j is now in Denver securing capital to work his mines, is looked for with interest. The proper working of the Garfield means much to this city. The Hocks Springs Review says a car loaded with ore, the first extracted ex-tracted from the mines of Bear Lake, Idaho, passed through Bock Springs Thursday afternoon, consigned con-signed to a Denver smelter. The car was richly decorated with the stars and stripes, and presented a most unique appearance. Suit has been commenced in the Distrirt Court by John H. Wight against Willis Boothe, etal.in order to settle all dispute as to the title! to the land embraced by the La Plata mining district. The value of the land canimt be estimated as it is not known how much or how rich arethe minerals which are un-miestionablv un-miestionablv there. |
