Show Legioneers Will Honor the Dead Gunni:--on Guard Mount, Tost 104, American Legion, aided by the civilians civil-ians of this city, will pay homage- to the war veterans who made the supreme su-preme sacrifice In the late world war and to other veterans who served their country and who now sleep in "Flanders Field," on Memorial Day, Tuesday, May 30. A splendid program pro-gram for the day has been arranged and true patriotism will bo shown the bravo Jails who valiantly gave their lives for tho freedom of their country. Tuesday's exercises will begin at fl o'clock when patriotic music will bo given by tho Gunnison Valley luiud. At ten o'clock an interesting program will be given in the auditorium audi-torium at the high school building and will be as follows: Presiding Officer" Sidney Baxter Prayer I!. Bigler Selection Glee Club Address Mayor J. W. Jones Selection Quartet Benediction B. Bigler Following tho exercises at the high school the parade will be formed and march to tho cemetery. The line of march will be as follows: The Colors, Band, Firing Squad, Spanish-American War Veterans, American Legion, Boy Scouts, Auxiliary, Civilians. At 12 o'clock noon dedication of the graves of the war veterans by tho chaplain and firing the salute over the grave of each soldier dead, by the firing squad, will close the morning program. At 3:30 in the afternoon there will be a. game of baseball at. the Gunnison park. The Legion team will participate as one of the contenders con-tenders and it is likely that a team from Moroni will be secured to entertain en-tertain the home boys. The day's festivities will conclude with a grand ball at the Gunnison Valley high school building. For this event Booth's orchestra has been secured, and splendid music will be furnished for the occasion. A nursery, nurs-ery, for which competent help will be provided, will be arranged and those with infants can attend the dance and the little ones will be carefully attended. Elaborate plans have been made for the dance and a record crowd is expected to be present pres-ent and enjoy tho hospitality of the members of the American Legion. |
