Miss Lois Overfelt spent several days this week visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. V. A. Tompkins at Ephraim. Mr. and Mrs. Julius Johnson and Misses Ida and Rosa Johnson and Miss Jessie Hendrickson motored to Ephraim Eph-raim last Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. V. A. Tompkins, Misses Opal, Muriel and Maxiene Tompkins of Ephraim were the house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Overfelt last Sunday. Miss Alta Ross, who has been in the city for the past four months, the guest of her sister, Mrs. Royal Buchanan, will leave for her home at Sevier next Sunday. Sun-day. Gilbert Childs has returned from Ephraim and will spend the summer in the Gunnison Valley. Gilbert has been a student at the Snow Normal college during the past winter. Hyrum Fredrickson was among the travelers to Salt Lake the early part of the week. He expects to be absent about two week visiting with his daught- Lenno Rosenvall, the garage man, made a flying trip to Salt Lake Tuesday Tues-day of this week. A baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Larson at their home at Axtell Wednesday night. Jess Bardsley, who spent several days visiting with relatives and friends here, returned to his home at Salt Lake last Sunday. Fred N. Swalberg, the Marysvale stockman, was in Gunnison several days this week combining business with pleasure. Miss Mary Fredrickson is visiting in Ephraim for two weeks and will be the house guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Olsen. Lionel Sorenson, who has been instructor instruct-or at the Bingham Canyon schools during dur-ing the past winter, came in Wednesday. He expects to remain here during the summer. John S. Peterson, McLaren Peterson, August Villard and Miss Betty Villard, motored to Salt Lake Tueshay. They wore combining business with pleasure' for several days. j er, Mrs. O. W. Christensen. A. M. Peterson, manager for the Peterson Meat & Grocery company, and j Martin Peterson, of the Kozi Place company, were among those from Gunnison Gun-nison that attended "Market Week" at Salt Lake. Mrs. Rulon Madsen delighfully entertained enter-tained a few of her friends at her home in Centerfield last Friday evening. A social time, was enjoyed and at five o'clock delicious refreshments were served to twelve guests. Miss Audie Childs entertained twelve of her friends at un anniversary party Thurdsday night of last week. Fancy work and a social time were enjoyed until nearly 12 o'clock when delicious refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Embley of Centerfield are receiving the congrat-ulaions congrat-ulaions of their many friends over the arrival of a 7-pound baby girl at then-home. then-home. The baby was born Monday and all concerned are doing splendidly. Miss Jessie Hendrickson. domestic science teacher at the Gunnison high school during the past year, left for her home at Salt Lake yesterday. Miss Hendrickson has been engaged for the coming school year at the high school. Amasa Kinney and Harold Lewis were northbound passengers this morning their destination being Salt Lake. The gentlemen have accepeted a position with K. H. Brown who has several concessions con-cessions at Saltair, the famed inter-mountain inter-mountain lake resort. Grant Neilson, well known here and who now lives at Richfield, is all smiles, according to advices received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Neilson. The cause of the hilarity is the arrival of a ten-pound baby boy at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Neilson. Uhlan Swalberg was expermenting with the intricacies of a cream separator separat-or Tuesday evening and as a result is nursing a broken and badly lacerated little finger. In some manner Uhlan got his finger caught in the cogs and before it could be extricaded the bone was broken and the flesh mashed to jelly! Mrs. Caroline Peterson, who has been a sufferer for many months from an aggravated attack of reheumatism, left for Salt Lake the first of the week where she will take a course of treat" ment from a specialist. She was accompanied ac-companied by her mother, Mrs. C. L. Millor and Leonard G. Anderson. The latter attended the "Market Week" festivites while at the capitol city. Miss Mary Swalberg, daughter of Fred N. Swalberg, accompanied the latter lat-ter to Marysvale yesterday. She will be absent for. two weeks or more visiting visit-ing with her parents there. Mrs. Ezra Neilson, and Clara and Farland Neilson of Marysvale, are in the city as the guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Metcalf. They expect to remain here a month. Miss Ida Johnson entertained at a dinner party at her home Sunday evening even-ing complimentary to Miss Jessie Hendrickson Hen-drickson who loaves for her home at Salt Lake this week. Covers were laid for seven. Mrs. L. G. Anderson and son, Gregg, and Miss Jessie Peterson left last Sunday Sun-day for Colorado points. They will visit friends and relatives at Grand Junction and Fruita and expect to be absent six weeks or two months. Mr. and Mrs. C swell Beck and the M isses Luzella and Nada Beck, are spending a week or more in Salt Lake City. Both of the daughters are undergoing under-going slight operations and are under the care of specialists. Rev. A. V. Boand will deliver a sermon ser-mon at the Presbyterian chapel next Thursday evening and will use as his theme, "Trench, Tried and Truths." The public is cordially invited to attend. Services will begin at 8 o'clock. Mrs. W. S. Tollestrup, who has been the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Thorpe, Jr., at Axtell, for the past two weeks, left for home at Salt Lake yesterday. She was accompanied by her brother. Cameron Thorpe. Mrs. Rebecca Parker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Higham of Centerfield, arrived from Brant, Alberta, Canada, last evening. Mrs. Parker came here in answer to a telegram announcing the illness of her father at his home in Centerfield. Cen-terfield. Miss Lillian Johnson went to Salt Lake yesterday and shortly she will enter en-ter summer school for special studies. The many friends of Miss Johnson will be sorry to learnthat she will not be with the Gunnison public school faculty next year. She accepted a position at the Jordan schools, South of Salt Lake. Mrs. Howard Roberts was hostess to few of her friends at an anniversary party at her home Tuesday afternoon from two to five thirty. Fancy work and a social time were the features. At five o'clock a delicious luncheon was served, covers being laid for nine. Mrs. Roberts received many beautiful presents. |
