Show Storm King Visits ! Gunnison Valley, Gunnison Valley got its first touch of winter weather last Saturday in a storm that swept the entire section. From reports hroughout the slate the storm was general and from one standpoint of thinking was most welcome, fall crops, the dry farmer : and the stockmen gave the storm a hearty welcome. The ranges in the , mountains, long ago drid up, forced the stockmen to bring their herds to the valley and conditions for ranging ; at the latter have not been the best. With the beet farmer who was busy gathering his crop the rain was , not welcome and with its coming ! work has been temporarily suspended! in the beet fields. However, it is thought that within a few days the work of gathering the beets will be resumed. Previous to the storm many of the growers availed themselves them-selves of the ideal conditions and it is estimated that fully one-half of the crop was harvested. Reports from rangers stationed in t.ho mountains are to the effect that a goodly amount of snow fell in the high hills and as a result the foundation founda-tion for next summer's irrigating water was made. The real disagreeable feature of the storm was the condition the roads in South Sanpete were left. With very little attention given the roads during the past summer yawning yawn-ing ruts were left during the constant con-stant travel. With the rain the ruts are filled with water and from a point just below Gunnison to th Sevier county line the beet haulers and travelers find great difficulty in negotiating ne-gotiating the State highway. |
