Show SHOWING PROPER. RESPECT FOR AMERICAN FLAG Patriotic organizations throughout through-out Utah have been asked to assist in bringing about proper respect for the American nag. The suggestions and rules here given for use in the schools are from the American Legion. Le-gion. First A flag, whenever possible, shall be on a staff or pole. Second When this is impossible the flag shall be arranged so that j the stripes shall be in straight lines. When vertical the field of blue shall i be to the right. When horizontal the field shall be on the left. Third The flag shall never be draped. Fourth When the flag in displayed display-ed out of doors it shall always be on a proper staff or flagpole. . Fifth When it is displayed from a pole it shall always be accompanied accompan-ied by proper ceremony when it is raised or lowered. Sixth When possible bugles shall participate in the ceremonies at the raising and lowering of the flag. Seventh A strict rule shall be enforced en-forced that all teachers and pupils shall immediately stand at attention. Or if in uniform, salute when the flag is raised or lowered. Eighth All students shall be taught the proper respect for the flag in order that they may know how to properly conduct themselves when it appears at public functions Ninth When it is impossible to carry out these rules a flag shall not be displayed. Tenth No fine; should be displayed display-ed after sunset out of doors. |
