Show LOCAL ECHOES. Mrs. Flora Martin Hall of Portage, Utah Is the guest of her sister Mrs. H. P. Jensen for a Drief stay. Mrs. A. J. Robbins and son Scott are visiting In Gunnison with Mrs. Robbins' mother, Mrs. Anna Chris-tensen. Chris-tensen. ' Charles Whitlock of Mayfield announces an-nounces the marriage of his daughter Pearl at Mantl next Wednesday to Mr. Clarence Petersen of this city. A bride of the week was Miss Bernet-ta Bernet-ta Jensen daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J B. Jensen, her marriage taking place in the Mantl temple Wednesday to Mr. Ear) K. Whitlock of Axtell. Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Chrlstenson entertained the Tuesday Evening Card club for the season's Initial meet November 13. The prize winners were Mr$. C. E. Halverson and Neil Sorenson. Twelve members of the Social Circle Cir-cle club met with Mrs. Daunt Sanders San-ders Wednesday afternoon. The club will meet again November 21 with Mrs. C. N. Jensen. Mr. and Mrs. Marius Jensen celebrated cele-brated their silver wedding event Monday evening at their home in this city. Congratulations were showered by about thirty guests, who then partook par-took of a bounteous repast with the honored celebrants and passed a pleas ant evening in social chat and music. Mr. and Mrs. Jensen commenced their married' life at Ephralm in quite humble circumstances. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Edwards lost their entire household effects by fire which destroyed the house they were occupying on the Edwards farm easo of the depot Friday night last. The origin of the fire is unknown, there being none of the family there at the tl.ne. Monday afternoon 121 women and girls registered for Uncle Sam. This was the generous response to a request re-quest from the state council of defense. de-fense. Not nearly enough registry cards were sent for all the women who came to register, but in all pro? babillty another day will be arranged for in order to complete the work. Fuieral was held from the family residence Monday for Mabel Leota the 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Jensen. Rev. W. M. Pa-den Pa-den of Salt Lake preached the funeral funer-al sermon and a quartet of local voices voi-ces gave the singing. Little Mabel died of blood-clot on the brain Friday last after an illness of three weeks. The fourth and fifth grades of the public school with their teachers attended at-tended in a body the funeral and gave a token of flowers in repect to their former class-mate. The Royal Neighbors lodge held its regular meeting Monday evening. A pledge from the members present was taken that they would assist the government gov-ernment in the conservation of food in every way possible. Accordingly as the first step the serving of refreshments refresh-ments at regular meetings will be a .thing of the past and even on special .occasions the serving only of the simplest sim-plest refreshments is to be the prao tice. The sum of $40.80 was realized from the sale of a rug and a quilt. A special war tax of fifty cents from each member has been ordered by the supreme camp. |
