Show Republican Meeting at Corinne. On Monday last, a Republican Convention met in the opera house at the "Burg on the Bear," to I elect delegates to .the Territorial Convention. Very much to the surprise of your correspondent, he found only a few of the faithful seventy over there. On enquiring, one was tilling . a farm, another taking a wife, while yet another was minding his own business ami on strict investigation it was found that our w hilom friend "Caggie,"of old time acquaintance, was the high muck-a-muck of the gathering. Judge Coombs, of Brigham, was asked to the chair (where, oh where waB the legitimate chairman?) chair-man?) Mr. Pribyl, of the new paper, did nobly as secretary. Speeches were made, but very little enthusiasm was exhibited. Old time members ol the G. O. P. seemed not to respond to the glorious sentiment as marked by the able eloquence of Mr. Coombs. His tribute to our eminent statesman, states-man, Blaine and Harrison's Grandfather's Grand-father's bat, only elicited a faint response, he subsided under the dead weight of what may be termed the ponderosity of the immensity im-mensity of the old time party. "Pax Vobiscum." |
