Show PROCLAIMS NOVEMBER 11 AS "ARMISTICE DAY" In the absence of Governor Bamberger Bam-berger from the stale, Hardin Ben nion, acting governor, has issued a proclamation setting aside Tuesday November 11, as Armistice day ant' urges the citizens throughout the slate to observe the day with appro priate exercises in the schools ano churches. The proclamation als( recommends that Sunday, Novembei 9, be designated as American Legloi day. The proclamation follows: "Twelve months ago the forces o' America and its allies were arrayet in the greatest and most sanguiuar; conflict in history, dedicated to th liberation of mankind from the tyr anny of autocracy. In devotion t the cause of freedom the blood o America dyed crimson the soil o France and the sacrifices of our lib 3rty-loving people were laved in sa :red tears of American womanhood One week later, November 11th, th ioyous news flashed around th' vorld. The mighty struggle hai ceased; tyranny had been crushed the cause of liberty and justice hai 'een vindicated. "It is fitting that epochs in the advancement ad-vancement of civilization be reckon-;d reckon-;d from events which mark definite changes in world affairs for the betterment bet-terment of humanity. It is proper hat anniversaries of such events be commemorated. And in keeping Fresh in memory epochal beginnings ve honor ourselves by honoring 'hose who made the changes possi-)le. possi-)le. In observing Armistice Day it. is our privilege to pay tribute to the nemory of those who died that freo-lom freo-lom might be perpetuated and to ur gallant sons permitted to return o us and represented by the national jrganization the American Legion.
