Show Make Paper From Grass. Paper making is being tried out la South Africa. One of the materials under Investigation has been ,the tam-bookie tam-bookie grass which grows luxuriantly-over luxuriantly-over vast tracks of country in the Transvaalparticularly in the northern parts. This grass has been proved to yield, under the same conditions, more pulp than Algerian esparto grass, but a little less than Spanish esparto. Not only is the yield high, but the pulp Is of good quality and can be easily bleached. The most remunerative use for the grass will probably be to convert con-vert It in South Africa Into "half-stuff," "half-stuff," which can be exported to Eu rope or used for paper-making locally. |
