Show SERVICE MEN ORGANIZE POST At a meeting of the soldier boys of Gunnison held recently, a temporary tem-porary organisation of the "American "Ameri-can Legion" was effected. Notwithstanding Notwith-standing the fact that very little publicity had been given the meeting meet-ing nearly 20 of the boys who saw service in some form during the recent re-cent world war were present and seventeen were enrolled as charter members of the organization. Leo D. Bardsley was selected temporary chairman of the meeting and much enthusiasm was manifest at the successful suc-cessful start made by the organizers. A temporary name for the local post, "Sanpete Chow," has been adopted. Gilbert Fjeldsted," one of the charter char-ter members, went to Salt Lake Tuesday morning and represented the local organization at the convention conven-tion at the state capitol of the state organizations, which met to further plans for the work. The objects of the American Legion Le-gion is to keep service men in touch with each other; to answer National questions pertaining to service records, rec-ords, insurance, or bills passed by Congress relative to soldiers' welfare, wel-fare, as well as promoting social interests in-terests among the boys. Another meeting will be called soon at which time a permanent organization or-ganization will be effected. A constitution consti-tution will be drawn up and adopted and other matters of importance relative rel-ative to the local post will be considered. consid-ered. World War service men ar urged to keep awake and watch for the coming meeting. All whose names are on record and dues paid up by November 11, 1919, are eligible elig-ible as charter members. On November Novem-ber 11, it is planned to make an event equal as the same a s last year when the armistice was signed. |
