Show INDUSTRIAL CONFERENCE OPENS Sessions Expected to Better Relations Between Capital and Labor. Washington. Representatives of the public evinced a spirited desire for action, rather than oratory, at the opening session on October 6 of the industrial in-dustrial conference called by President Presi-dent Wilson. Apparently with the detenninatioi of differentiating Ibis conference from many similar gatherings held in Washington, the public's delegates demanded de-manded that sessions be held night and day, if necessary, to establish a basis for harmonious relations between capital and labor during the present abnormal economic conditions. lieniard T. Karuch of New York, one of these delegates, was active in directing the affairs of the conference, which was considered significant in view of his close friendship with President Presi-dent Wilson and bis frequent visits to the White House. |
