Show HAIL TO GUNNISON, UTAH! Under the above oaption Wednesday's Wednes-day's Herald-Republican editorially says : Gunnison, Utah, is now a town, It has taken the necessary steps, backed by a vote of the people concerned. And the olden, unorganized method is a thing of the past. There are possibilities for Gunnison. We do not look for any miracle to be worked in its case. We look for the good people there to prove to the rest of the world that they are good enough to compose a town. And that they are going to make the town and its surroundings go forward just as fast as they can.. Back of Gunnison is one of the best countries that lie out of doors. It is populated by some of the best people on earth, There are possibilities there amazing to the resident of the worn-out eastern states. Its men are making progress along intelligent lines. That region will be one to boast of in a few jears. And the men who made a town of Gunnison will live to make a city of it yet and a city we all will be proud of. Which is all very well except where Gunnison is referred to as bang "now a town," aud "the olden, unorganized un-organized method a thing of the past," etc. The writer of that editorial editori-al is evidently a new man in the state. Gunnison has been endowed with municipal power as a town for fifteen years and as evidenced by a notice published in that same paper, is now a city. Yea, the men who made a town of Guanison have made (not "will live to make") a city of it and will yet do a bigger thing make it thrice its present siae in ten years from now. Watch us grow. |
