Show FORMAL ACTION FILED. Former State Treasurer of Utah Charged With Misappropriation of Funds. Salt Lake City. James Christiansen, Christian-sen, former state treasurer, has been formally hcarged in two separate complaints with having appropriated to his own use sums totaling $70.-62S.94, $70.-62S.94, rightfully belonging to the state of Utah, and he is now out on bail, with instrutcions o hold himself in readiness to appear in court for arraignment ar-raignment at a time to be later set by the court. The complaints against Mr. Christiansen were drawn up by County Attorney Job C. Lyon, and were sworn to by State Auditor Jesse D. Jewkes. The first one charges him with appropriating illegally to his own use the sum paid over to him on May 26, 1908, by Mrs. Julia A. Kimball as an inheritance tax; the second complaint com-plaint charges him with the defalcation defalca-tion of $60,000 paid over to him on January 2, 1909, just a few days before be-fore his term of office expired, by the treasurer of Salt Lake county. |
