Show PLOT TO ASSASSINATE TAFT. Man Convicted of . Sending Bomb to Capitalist Tells Sensational Story. Pittsburgh. William D. Pastorious was sentenced in criminal court here Saturday to serve four to six years in solitary confinement in Riverside penitentiary peni-tentiary after being convicted of sending send-ing a bomb to Alexander R. Peacock, former partner of Andrew Carnegie and millionaire capitalist, and attempting attempt-ing to extort $5,000 from him. Pastorious, it is said, told his attorney, attor-ney, A. C. Stein" details of an alleged plot to assassinate President Taft. The plans, he said, were made in New York. It was Stein's purpose to have Pastorious tell his story in court, but this was abandoned and the matter was placed in the hands of government govern-ment officials here. |
