With carriages and floats lavishly decorated, and in all the pomp and glory and beauty that rightfully attends at-tends the public appearance of Queens the Utah girls who are elected Queens from the various counties will participate parti-cipate on that night with their maids of honor, in the Carnival of the Counties Coun-ties pageant that is expected to prove one of the most spectacular features ever arranged for a State Fair west of the Missouri river. Already every county in the State but three has notified the authorities of the State Fair association that they will participate in the Carnival of the Counties. This is the gorgeous and brilliant spectacle inaugurated last year by Presinent J. G. McDonald McDon-ald of the State Fair association and the directors, and which proved so glowing a success. A queen and four maids of honor are chosen by each county to represent repres-ent the county in the Carnival of the Counties. Already word has reached the secretary's office of the State Fair association in Salt Lake that many of the counties have inauguraed voting contests to choose the girls who shall represent the counties as queens. This year the county commissioners of each county have been made ex-offi-cio members of the advisory board to consult with the directors of the State Fair association relative to county participation in the Carnival of Counties, Coun-ties, as well as county exhibits at the Fair. Opening Saturday, the Fair will continue for eight consecutive days. On Sunday October 4th, only the educational ed-ucational exhibits will be on view, however. There will be no amusements amuse-ments of any kind to be operated on the grounds, Sunday, and the only diversion will be a beautiful band concert in the coliseum. Admission to the State Fair this year from the first to the final day will be 25c for adults and 10c for children. |
