Show CENTERFIELD. Aug. 13. A daughter was born on the 6th inst. to Mr. and Mrs. William Jensen of this place. Bu'rwell Westover, one of our young men and who last May engaged work in Nevada, has just returned in a critical cri-tical state .with a badly crushed foot. Memorial services were held here Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Woodrow Wilson, the nresident's wife. The speakers were Brigham Jensen and Niels L. Lund, who took occasion also to remark upon the war crisis in Europe. The S. S. officers and teachers held a preparation meeting Tuesday night and its value proved of such importance impor-tance that it was decided to make the affair a fortnigtly function. This organization has also in contemplation the holding of a social just prior to the opening of the public school, chiefly to form acqaintance. Dewey Lund was on Monday oper-ted oper-ted o:i for appendicitis and is reported doing nicely. Mrs. Margaret Duffin of Gunnison is visiting here, the guest of her daughter, Mrs. C. II . Embley. Harvesting is now under way and it is found that a deal of rust is prevalent preva-lent due it is believed to the excessive rains. Grain during the growing period pe-riod promised bounteous yield but not more than one-fourth of a crop is now apparent. Alfalfa in some instances in-stances is already maturing the third crop, a condition unusual in this section sec-tion thus early in the season. |
