Show FOR BETTER FARMING. Only a few turned out to hear last Monday evening the lecture given on farming and the betterment of the people, by Professor Boyle. Those who attended felt well paid, pecause the professor explained a number of good things to them. He pointed out the folly of raising products pro-ducts unfit to bo marketed. He said Utah once held front rank in supplying supply-ing the potatoe demand , but was now superseded by Idaho and Colorado because of those states applying improved im-proved seeds and producing the best kinds of notntnns neiently large to ship by car and train loads. Professor Boyle explained how sugar beets could be made a profitable profit-able crop as a hog food and the two industries together fetch a big revenue. He advised the people to give more attention to the impro ving' of both farm products and stock, Not alone quality, but quantity should be an aim so that products might be shipped to points distant and not druc the local marUpf. His talk was replete with practical suggestions. His visit here was of I several daya' duration testing soil for private parties and before taking lenve gave Bishop Christenson a quantity of seed potatoes of a new variety which he warns the people here to raise for shipping. |
