Show Livestock on the Reserves. Washington. During the grazing season of 1909 the forest service will permit upon the grazing areas within forest reserves nearly. 2,000,000 head of horses and cattle, and upwards of 7,000,000 sheep and goats. Clifford Pinchot, chief of the forest service, has just completed the list of allowances, allow-ances, by reserves, that will be followed fol-lowed this season, and in the main the number is slightly in excess of the number of permits issued a year ago. Permits will be issued by the local forestry officers, from the respective re-spective division headquarters, instead in-stead of through the main office at Washington, as has heretofore been the custom. |
