H ; There is a fine little feud going up on Brigham H , street because a certain lady who was gracious H , enough to entertain recently in honor of another H lady gave the affair at the Country club instead H of at her home. For that reason the honored H ' guest took it upon herself to say that the enter- H j tainment was no compliment, "because the host- H -j ess has such a beautiful place in which to enter- H S tain." A mutual friend carried the remark with H I the result that this hostess will probably not en- H I tertain for her again very soon. H l H I Miss Margaret McClure, who will be married H I to Sherman Armstrong during the month, has H been the motif of several smart affairs given in H r her honor recently. Today, Miss Norinne Thomp- H son and Miss Margaret Walker will give a lunch- H eon for her and this evening, Mr. and Mrs. B. O. H Howard will give a dinner In the roof of the H ( Utah for Miss McClure and Mr. Armstrong. To- Hi , morrow they will be entertained by Mr. and Mrs. H' Edger Biering at their country home, on Monday Hi I Miss Erminie Calvin will entertain at a lunch- H eon for Miss McClure, and Mrs. James Hogle will H!J give a dinner on Monday evening. On Tuesday Ht? evening, Mr. and Mrs. Smith will give a family H ' dinner for the young people at their residence Hi on South Temple street. fl : Hv A beautiful home wedding of Thursday was H.t that of Miss Lucy M. Lewis, daughter of Dr. I and Mrs. Alva Lewis and William H. Hendrickson. The ceremony was performed by the Rt. Rev. Paul , Jones and following a wedding breakfast, Mr. H: and Mrs. Hendrickson left for California. They B ' will reside in Frisco, Utah. ' : m One of the most elaborate affairs of the week m. - was the wedding at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Murray C. Godbe on Thursday evening when 1 their daughter, Miss Ruth Godbe, was married to B l Melvin D. Naylor, Richard W. Young officiating in H the presence of the relatives of the bride and B w groom. Later a large reception was given which B w was attended by over three hundred friends. B 4 Mr. and Mrs. Naylor have gone to California on Bl'jf their honeymoon and upon their return will live B I at Idaho Falls. Miss Godbe was attended by B Miss Mary Godbe as maid of honor and Miss Hf Helen Godbe and Miss Frances Clayton, brides- H . maids. Lawrence Clayton was best man for Mr. B , . Naylor. Ono of the pretty affairs of yesterday was an informal dancing party last evening given by Mr. and Mrs. Harry W. Baum for their guest, Miss Martha Rowan of New York. Mrs. Fred R. Sands entertained at a series of bridge luncheons at her homo during the week for her sister, Mrs. E. H. Howell of Reedley, California. Cali-fornia. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bamberger and their children chil-dren have returned from Brighton. Mr. and Mrs. W. Mont Ferry and their sons who have spent the summer at their cottage at Brighton, are at home again. Colonel and Mrs. D. C. Jackling, who are now in the Grand Canyon of the Colorado, will be here for a visit of several days in October. Mrs. Louis Cates was the hostess at a large and elaborate luncheon given at the Alta club on Tuesday. With her daughter, she has gone to Los Angeles where she will spend some time there before going to her home in Arizona. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Crane have arrived from Chicago and are visiting their daughter, Mrs. George Walker. Mr. and Mrs. Parley P. Jenson have returned from California. Dr. E. A. Tripp and Miss Gwendolyn Tripp have returned from Los Angeles. Mrs. Arthur Bird has returned from the coast. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Hampton have returned from Lake Tahoe. |
