H Joses, the brother of Jesus, plodded from .day M to day ' '; '1 H With never a vision within him to glorify his H H Joses, the brother of Jesus, was one wit'h the H heavy clod, H But Christ was the soul of rapture, and soared, Hj like a lark, with God; H Joses, the brother of Jesus, was only a worker in H wood, H And he never could see the glory that Jesus, his H brother, could. H "Why stays he not in the workship," he often H n used to complain, H "Sawing the Lebanon cedar, imparting to woods H their stain H Why must he go roaming, forsaking my father's H trade H While hammers are busily sounding, and there is H gain to be made." H Thus ran the mind' of Joses, apt with plummet H and rule H And deeming whoever surpassed him either a H knave or a fool For ho never walked with the prophets in God's 1 great garden of bliss; M And of all the mistakes of the ages the saddest H me-thinks, was this: M To have such a brother as Jesus, to speak with H him day by day, H Yet never catch the vision which glorified h.'s |
