The most reasonable guess recorded regarding the probable longevity of the new "Republican" paper is credited' to Colonel E. A. Wall. A solicitor solici-tor for the embryo journal called on the colonel, and stated that he wished him to subscribe for the paper now and to keep it up as long as the paper was published. "Put me down for six months," responded the colonel affably; "I guess that will cover it." The gamblers who leave town will at least find some comfort in the fact that they will no longer see any of those nerve-racking Tribune cartoons. |
