Show GEO. L. SIIOUP. On the Elks' last memorial day in Boise, ex-Congressman ex-Congressman Edgar Wilson delivered a superb eulogy to the late Senator Geo. L. Shoup, who was the only member of the Boise lodge to pass away last year. Mr. Wilson's speech is published in full in the Statesman. His picture of the late senator as pioneer, soldier, statesman, man of affairs, af-fairs, patriot and great-hearted, public-spirited citizen, was superb, and yet was not overdrawn, for Senator Shoup in life, while not a scholar, had absolutely clear judgement, a courage that never faltered, an unselfishness that held him at any sacrifice to the clear line of duty, and a love of country that was boundless. The value of his strong life to Idaho can never be estimated, and when he went to the grave the men of all parties there joined in saying that their foremost citizen had passed away. |
