Show LETTER FROM I 1 missionaries editor news jews you can Imma glue that we having lived in brigham city most all our lives are most delighted to hear all about it it is our pleasure to amuse ourselves reading the local papers that are sent to us regularly they are indeed very interesting and we enjoy reading them very much we thank you very much for keeping us in touch with what is going on in the old home town we are enjoying our work as missionaries sion aries here in the city ot of utrecht t immensely it Is certainly a ledge to go out in the world and perform this service the work is not only pleasant but educational the customs of the people are very different from our own yet we like them very much we have become full fledged hollanders and think that we are vi ledged that we two from brigham nay may work in the same city some 0 ot t our time may have been wasted however talking about the things that we enjoyed in the peach city utrecht holland Is a city with about the same number of 0 inhabitants assal alake city although the area of the city is very little larger than that of brigham city thousands of the people it seems like live in one little street and the buildings are only one story we often wonder where they all come from utrecht is one ot of the oldest settlements in holland many years before america was discovered it was an old tort fort many of the buildings that were built at that time are still standing and are arc being used there is a tower here that I 1 is s the highest in holland it is one hundred and ten meters high made of stone and brick it took eighty years to build it the material materia I 1 being pulled up with ropes it takes forty men to ring the huge bell that hangs in the tower but it is seldom used only on occasions when the royalty are involved the buildings in general are all very old fashioned and because of the boggy nature of the ground many of the structures look as it if they were falling over yesterday we were very much surprised but delighted to see a gangoff gang of yankey sailors being led up the main street by a dutch band they were officers from annapolis going around the world the cruisers the wyoming and the arkansas are lying in the rotterdam harbor the sailors have been looking at everything in holland so they could nut not go by with out seeing utrecht they were received by the dutch officials here and were es courted to all tire places of 0 interest the stars and stripes were raised on the court house hoose and it seemed that all the people in tov town agn were out to see the boys come in it was just like a day of celebration tor for us we took great pleasure in in using our english agamir and talking to some americans americana again ag iu they nrc leaving rotterdam friday for or giber altor and from tron there back home we are indeed enjoying our work here and are not at all sorry that we were called to this work but we will be glad to see all ofir ocr friends in brigham again we are always 91 clatl d to hear that brigham is ia being noticed notice J be because calise we feel that her success is 13 our success suc success coss and that our success is her success wo we assure you that your paper Is appreciated in utrecht and wish it success in the future hoping that the people ot of brigham city are boosting for brigham sincerely yours RALPH PHILLIP C CALL CAIA |
