Show AMUSEMENTS One after another, with the exception of the Curtis musical shows at the Shubert, the summer sum-mer theatrical attractions have succumbed to the heat, booze and two or three other causes, and the houses are dark until September 1st. The Orpheum opens its regular vaudeville season sea-son late this month and at the Shubert musical comedy in tabloid form has caught on in splendid splen-did shape, so much so, in fact, that the house is doing a capacity business at nearly every performance, per-formance, and the shows are worth it. There is little use forecasting the opening of the winter shows, as the only definite announcement announce-ment to date is that the Colonial's initial offering will be Wlilton Lackaye in "The Battle." Meanwhile, Mean-while, the resorts will eke out a haphazard existence, ex-istence, presumably, little as they deserve even that. |
