Show A MISSIONARY MIRACLE. A Mormon missionary, writing from the So- H ciety Islands and depicting the fearful hurricane jH that recently wrought such destruction there, tells H how when he and a brother missionary had tied H themselves to the branches of a cocoanut tree and H remained all night with the awful storm roaring H around them and the furious waters sweeping be- 'H neath them; after some six hundred people had H been drowned and the island made a wreck, the H spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him and he H rebuked the wind and the waves and there came il a great calm. H There is no objection to that but it raises the I question of why the spirit of the Lord was so ll slow in coming. fl Why could it not have got around the perilous fl evening and saved the people and the cocoanuts? (H Again, had not the hurricane raged the usual time ' for South Sea hurricanes before the spirit came? II What was it that the ancient seer said about all I men being liars? H |
