Show I n Miners and Mining. Ng H A suit against the Wabash Mining company fl was commenced Tuesday in the Third District court at Coalville, which is for the purpose of set-B set-B ting aside a deed which the company obtained to M a one-fourth interest in the Wizard No. 2, Freder-B Freder-B ick and Chelsea claims at Park City. The suit B is brought by John W. Shulsen, the guardian of B Julia Frances Brennan, daughter of the late Pa-B Pa-B trick Brennan and in support of the contention B that the relief prayer for in the complaint should B be granted, some very strong statements are B made. B The complaint states that the Wabash company B entered into negotiations for the interest in the B claims described with Mrs. Nellie Brennan Camp- B bell, mother of the child and its general guar- B dian. It is alleged that defendant's representa- jfl tive, by taking advantage of the ignorance of Mrs. B Campbell relative to the value of the ground and B knowledge of the law governing the rights of the H minor child, persuaded her to make such repre- H sentations to the court that an order was Anally I obtained authorizing her to sell the interests de- I scribed and issue a deed to the Wabash company I for a stated consideration of ?150. I Manager 0. F. Peterson of the Dugway Copper 1 Mining company at Dugway, in the Deep Creek B country, came in town Wednesday and stated that they had just installed a new whim and hoisting appliances on his company's property. The Tintic Mining & Development company propose to erect a good sized smelter on the com-B com-B pany's Bingham property the coming season. B The site for the new smelter has been selected B and work will be begun on the building in the B early spring. B Manager Dusseldorf of the Comstock announces B that the first car of machinery and equipment for fl the new mill at Park City has arrived on the IE ground and everything but the engine and boilers B will be in shape for work at the mine at an early B date. B The new mill on the properties of the Midas B of Deep Creek is at present undergoing another B trial, and at its conclusion will be stopped until H the spring opens. Since it went out of commis-I commis-I sion that a new engine and boiler, also altera-I altera-I tions might be made, the principal work has been I done under ground with good results. I John T. Jones, a well-known mining expert from Michigan, arrived here from his homo and immediately left for the Kimberly properties in Iron mountain. He will spend a few days at the mines, and leave today for Chicago. It is understood under-stood that these large interests will be opened immediately. im-mediately. This means decided benefits to Southern South-ern Utah in the near future. A. good strike was reported yesterday on the gold property owned in part by Will J. Lawrence, about fifty miles northwest of Mountain Home, Ida., the reports stating an assay of about $50 in free gold to the ton. Recent reports from the Old Hickory state that a fine body of copper ore has been tapped in the working tunnel. The vein was encountered at a distance of 160 feet from the mouth of the tunnel and at a vertical depth of about eighty feet There is a large body of red and black oxides as well as sulphides. The ledge has already been cross-cut fourteen feet without striking the wall. The final payment on the Sheba mines at Star City, Humboldt county, Nevada, was paid today in this city, and the sum, it is claimed, went into Ave figures. With the final acquisition of this group by the Sheba Gold & Silver Mining company, com-pany, the holdings of the company embrace about thirty claims, with a fifty-ton mill, which is being rebuilt and brought up to date in its appliances. Col. M. J. True, secretary and general manager of the Blue Bird Copper-Gold Mining company, whose claims are located near Milford. returned this week from the East, where he has, with the assistance of Dr. Franklin, succeeded in placing the company on a working basis, and anticipates leaving for Beaver county today and expects to resume re-sume work within a few days. A rich body of ore has just been encountered in the east drift on the 400 level of the Mizpah, one of the big producers of the sensational Tonopah camp. The values run in horn silver and free gold. ! The latest reports from the Salt Lake-Tonopah properties are the most encouraging that have ever been received from the company's properties. The development work completed on the Wandering Boy claim in the splendid combination shaft includes in-cludes two cross-cuts, one of which is run from the 300-foot level and one from the 500-foot level. The upper cross-cut extends 150 feet and opens up two veins, and drifts are being run both ways along the footwall and contain very good-looking ore. Recent reports from the B., W. and H. mines, near Belknap, in Marysville canyon, are of the most highly sensational nature as to values and extent of ore bodies. This week comes the well-founded well-founded report that a large, rich vein which had been tapped on the surface and again in tunnel No. 2, and which at that point yielded from $10 to $100 per ton, has been struck and opened up at a depth of 300 feet, showing average values of $100 to the ton the full width of the tunnel without having struck the other wall. A few weeks ago this stock was being sold at 12i cents, with no takers; now it takes a good skirmisher to pick up anything in the line of the company's stock at 25 cents per share, with every chance of its going sky-rocketing within with-in the next thirty days. Today holders are asking 50 cents, and then taking to the woods for fear of someone accepting their offer. |
