Show 1 The telephone girls in -the exchange at Spokane Spo-kane have all gone out on a strike. Their cause Is just: The Ill-starred and barbaric antequarian who aroused the ire of the girls should be forced to ignominiously walk the world branded with the fiery scorn of universal femininity. This depraved de-praved personage did not lower their wages or insist upon longer hours; but he did enforce an iron-clad regulation that during the summer months the girls should all wear a neck ribbon and harness their refluent curls in a Phsyche knot. Could any demoniacal deed in the inquisiion rival the fiendishness of such an edict. The girls should have struck; they also should have struck this irreclaimable and misguided heathen, even as the Amazon of old might have shattered his debased de-based form beneath the battering of her invincible byceps. The mind conceiveth not a punishment sufficiently diabolical for one who thus violates and ignores and even sneers at the most sacred m and priceless prerogative of the sex the privilege of arranging her gilded locks in any manner that Dame Fashion or the whims ofthe hair dresser might dictate. |
